Premier single for synthpop band Peshtigo! Produced by Dashcam with Cover Art by CmyKatie + NiceFM

Lead singer Evan Pilak originally composed “Hang Tough” after he lost his longtime job and desperately needed a productive outlet to occupy his time while figuring out his future path. Although he had penned the tune’s synthy hook five years earlier, he was never quite able to flesh out the body of the song until then.

Using his experiences and emotions at the time, “Hang Tough” became a constant reminder and beacon of hope to himself and all of its listeners to stay strong and determined when facing bleak circumstances. After finalizing the track and having Matt add a much-needed guitar boost to it, Peshtigo reached out to the electro-music collaborative, NiceFM, looking for advice on some demos and breaking into the local Milwaukee scene. It was shortly after that “Hang Tough” was born as an official single.

Artist Bio:
Inspired by the dazzling landscapes (and clothing style) of Miami Vice, Peshtigo formed in 2008 after guitarist Matt Davis and singer/keyboardist Evan Pilak bonded in college. Peshtigo delivers a blend of M83’s textures, CHVRCHES angst and Ariel Pink’s melodies.

What began as a crude house party act cultivated into something grander. Merging warm retro synths, shimmering guitars and pop sensibilities, Peshtigo was honored as Urban Milwaukee’s Band of the Week in August 2015. With a busy 2018, they performed at The Newport, Highbury Pub, Tonic, Landmark Lanes and Nausicaa MKE. As the workload grew, so did the band with the addition of Luke Annear on electric drums last year.

Thanks to the slick production work from NiceFM, the glossy tune, “Hang Tough” is set to be Peshtigo’s first single in over 3 years.

Peshtigo has a monthly residency at Highbury Pub in Bay View. They will join Fuzzysurf and Yum Yum Cult at Riverwest Public House on April 12th. 91.7 WMSE Music Director Erin Wolf once described Peshtigo as, “super dreamy and pretty and kind of nostalgic… super awesome stuff.”
